6646e015a5 Add return value check of EVP_PKEY_copy_parameters () in ssl_set_cert_and_key()
It seems the return value of EVP_PKEY_copy_parameters() in
ssl_set_cert_and_key(), and could lead to null pointer dereference in
EVP_PKEY_eq() function.

However those functions are complicated and this fix is suggested by
a static analyzer, so please advise.

3b83638567 Fix leakage when the cacheline is 32-bytes in CBC_MAC_ROTATE_IN_PLACE
rotated_mac is a 64-byte aligned buffer of size 64 and rotate_offset is secret.
Consider a weaker leakage model(CL) where only cacheline base address is leaked,
i.e address/32 for 32-byte cacheline(CL32).

Previous code used to perform two loads
    1. rotated_mac[rotate_offset ^ 32] and
    2. rotated_mac[rotate_offset++]
which would leak 2q + 1, 2q for 0 <= rotate_offset < 32
and 2q, 2q + 1 for 32 <= rotate_offset < 64

The proposed fix performs load operations which will always leak 2q, 2q + 1 and
selects the appropriate value in constant-time.

e915c3f538 Fix an assertion in the DTLS server code
This fixes an internal error alert from the server and
an unexpected connection failure in the release version,
but a failed assertion and a server crash in the
debug version.

Reproduce this issue with a DTLS server/client like that:

./openssl s_server -dtls -mtu 1500
./openssl s_client -dtls -maxfraglen 512

In the debug version a crash happens in the Server now:

./openssl s_server -dtls -mtu 1500
Using default temp DH parameters
ACCEPT
ssl/statem/statem_dtls.c:269: OpenSSL internal error: Assertion failed: len == written
Aborted (core dumped)

While in the release version the handshake exceeds the
negotiated max fragment size, and fails because of this:

$ ./openssl s_server -dtls -mtu 1500
Using default temp DH parameters
ACCEPT
ERROR
4057152ADA7F0000:error:0A0000C2:SSL routines:do_dtls1_write:exceeds max fragment size:ssl/record/rec_layer_d1.c:826:
shutting down SSL
CONNECTION CLOSED

From the client's point of view the connection fails
with an Internal Error Alert:

$ ./openssl s_client -dtls -maxfraglen 512
Connecting to ::1
CONNECTED(00000003)
40B76343377F0000:error:0A000438:SSL routines:dtls1_read_bytes:tlsv1 alert internal error:ssl/record/rec_layer_d1.c:613:SSL alert number 80

and now the connection attempt fails unexpectedly.

a5fb960532 KTLS: Handle TLS 1.3 in ssl3_get_record.
- Don't unpad records, check the outer record type, or extract the
inner record type from TLS 1.3 records handled by the kernel. KTLS
performs all of these steps and returns the inner record type in the
  TLS header.

- When checking the length of a received TLS 1.3 record don't allow
for the extra byte for the nested record type when KTLS is used.

- Pass a pointer to the record type in the TLS header to the
SSL3_RT_INNER_CONTENT_TYPE message callback. For KTLS, the old
pointer pointed to the last byte of payload rather than the record
type. For the non-KTLS case, the TLS header has been updated with
the inner type before this callback is invoked.

031132c297 KTLS: Add using_ktls helper variable in ssl3_get_record().
When KTLS receive is enabled, pending data may still be present due to
read ahead. This data must still be processed the same as records
received without KTLS. To ease readability (especially in
consideration of additional checks which will be added for TLS 1.3),
add a helper variable 'using_ktls' that is true when the KTLS receive
path is being used to receive a record.

85773128d0 KTLS: Check for unprocessed receive records in ktls_configure_crypto.
KTLS implementations currently assume that the start of the in-kernel
socket buffer is aligned with the start of a TLS record for the
receive side. The socket option to enable KTLS specifies the TLS
sequence number of this initial record.

When read ahead is enabled, data can be pending in the SSL read buffer
after negotiating session keys. This pending data must be examined to
ensurs that the kernel's socket buffer does not contain a partial TLS
record as well as to determine the correct sequence number of the
first TLS record to be processed by the kernel.

In preparation for enabling receive kernel offload for TLS 1.3, move
the existing logic to handle read ahead from t1_enc.c into ktls.c and
invoke it from ktls_configure_crypto().

In the event that X509_verify() returned an internal error result then
libssl would mishandle this and set rwstate to SSL_RETRY_VERIFY. This
subsequently causes SSL_get_error() to return SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY.
That return code is supposed to only ever be returned if an application
is using an app verify callback to complete replace the use of
X509_verify(). Applications may not be written to expect that return code
and could therefore crash (or misbehave in some other way) as a result.

07f620e3ac Reset the rwstate before calling ASYNC_start_job()
If an async job pauses while processing a TLS connection then the
rwstate gets set to SSL_ASYNC_PAUSED. When resuming the job we should
reset the rwstate back to SSL_NOTHING. In fact we can do this
unconditionally since if we're about to call ASYNC_start_job() then either
we are about to start the async job for the first time (in which case the
rwstate should already by SSL_NOTHING), or we are restarting it after a
pause (in which case reseting it to SSL_NOTHING is the correct action).

If `ssl3_digest_cached_records()` were to fail, then `sk` would still be

7c73fefe38 Let SSL_new_session_ticket() enter init immediately
The initial implementation always deferred the generation of the
requested ticket(s) until the next application write, but this
is not a great fit for what it actually does, architecturally wise.
A request to send a session ticket means entering back into the
handshake state machine (or "in init", as it's known in the
implementation). The state machine transition is not something that
only occurs at an application-data write, and in general could occur at
any time. The only constraint is that we can't enter "init" while in
the middle of writing application data. In such cases we will need to
wait until the next TLS record boundary to enter the state machine,
as is currently done.

However, there is no reason why we cannot enter the handshake state
machine immediately in SSL_new_session_ticket() if there are no
application writes pending. Doing so provides a cleaner API surface to
the application, as then calling SSL_do_handshake() suffices to drive
the actual ticket generation. In the previous state of affairs a dummy
zero-length SSL_write() would be needed to trigger the ticket
generation, which is a logical mismatch in the type of operation being
performed.

This commit should only change whether SSL_do_handshake() vs zero-length
SSL_write() is needed to immediately generate a ticket after the
SSL_new_session_ticket() call -- the default behavior is still to defer
the actual write until there is other application data to write, unless
the application requests otherwise.

55373bfd41 Add SSL_OP_ALLOW_CLIENT_RENEGOTIATION
Add -client_renegotiation flag support. The -client_renegotiation flag is
equivalent to SSL_OP_ALLOW_CLIENT_RENEGOTIATION. Add support to the app,
the config code, and the documentation.

Add SSL_OP_ALLOW_CLIENT_RENEGOTIATION to the SSL tests. We don't need to
always enable it, but there are so many tests so this is the easiest thing
to do.

Add a test where client tries to renegotiate and it fails as expected. Add
a test where server tries to renegotiate and it succeeds. The second test
is supported by a new flag, -immediate_renegotiation, which is ignored on
the client.

aa6bd216dd Promote SSL_get_negotiated_group() for non-TLSv1.3
It can be useful to know what group was used for the handshake's
key exchange process even on non-TLS 1.3 connections. Allow this
API, new in OpenSSL 3.0.0, to be used on other TLS versions as well.
Since pre-TLS-1.3 key exchange occurs only on full handshakes, this
necessitates adding a field to the SSL_SESSION object to carry the
group information across resumptions. The key exchange group in the
SSL_SESSION can also be relevant in TLS 1.3 when the resumption handshake
uses the "psk_ke" key-exchange mode, so also track whether a fresh key
exchange was done for TLS 1.3.

Since the new field is optional in the ASN.1 sense, there is no need
to increment SSL_SESSION_ASN1_VERSION (which incurs strong incompatibility
churn).

e776858bce Don't send key_share for PSK-only key exchange
TLS 1.3 allows for the "psk_ke" and "psk_dhe_ke" key-exchange modes.
Only the latter mode introduces a new ephemeral (Diffie-Hellman)
key exchange, with the PSK being the only key material used in the
former case.

It's a compliance requirement of RFC 8446 that the server MUST NOT
send a KeyShareEntry when using the "psk_ke" mode, but prior to
this commit we would send a key-share based solely on whether the
client sent one. This bug goes unnoticed in our internal test suite
since openssl communicating with openssl can never negotiate the
PSK-only key-exchange mode. However, we should still be compliant
with the spec, so check whether the DHE mode was offered and don't
send a key-share if it wasn't.

848af5e8fe Drop libimplementations.a
libimplementations.a was a nice idea, but had a few flaws:

1. The idea to have common code in libimplementations.a and FIPS
    sensitive helper functions in libfips.a / libnonfips.a didn't
catch on, and we saw full implementation ending up in them instead
and not appearing in libimplementations.a at all.

2. Because more or less ALL algorithm implementations were included
in libimplementations.a (the idea being that the appropriate
objects from it would be selected automatically by the linker when
building the shared libraries), it's very hard to find only the
implementation source that should go into the FIPS module, with
the result that the FIPS checksum mechanism include source files
    that it shouldn't

To mitigate, we drop libimplementations.a, but retain the idea of
collecting implementations in static libraries. With that, we not
have:

libfips.a

Includes all implementations that should become part of the FIPS
    provider.

liblegacy.a

Includes all implementations that should become part of the legacy
    provider.

libdefault.a

Includes all implementations that should become part of the
    default and base providers.

With this, libnonfips.a becomes irrelevant and is dropped.
libcommon.a is retained to include common provider code that can be
used uniformly by all providers.

72d2670bd2 Enforce secure renegotiation support by default
Previously we would set SSL_OP_LEGACY_SERVER_CONNECT by default in
SSL_CTX_new(), to allow connections to legacy servers that did not
implement RFC 5746.

It has been more than a decade since RFC 5746 was published, so
there has been plenty of time for implmentation support to roll out.

Change the default behavior to be to require peers to support
secure renegotiation. Existing applications that already cleared
SSL_OP_LEGACY_SERVER_CONNECT will see no behavior change, as
re-clearing the flag is just a little bit of redundant work.
The old behavior is still available by explicitly setting the flag
in the application.

Also remove SSL_OP_LEGACY_SERVER_CONNECT from SSL_OP_ALL, for
similar reasons.

Document the behavior change in CHANGES.md, and update the
SSL_CTX_set_options() and SSL_CONF_cmd manuals to reflect the change
in default behavior.

f42e68dc47 Defer Finished MAC handling until after state transition
In TLS we process received messages like this:

1) Read Message Header
2) Validate and transition state based on received message type
3) Read Message Body
4) Process Message

In DTLS we read messages like this:

1) Read Message Header and Body
2) Validate and transition state based on received message type
3) Process Message

The difference is because of the stream vs datagram semantics of the
underlying transport.

In both TLS and DTLS we were doing finished MAC processing as part of
reading the message body. This means that in DTLS this was occurring
*before* the state transition has been validated. A crash was occurring
in DTLS if a Finished message was sent in an invalid state due to
assumptions in the code that certain variables would have been setup by
the time a Finished message arrives.

To avoid this problem we shift the finished MAC processing to be after
the state transition in DTLS.

Thanks to github user @bathooman for reporting this issue.

a3a54179b6 Only enable KTLS if it is explicitly configured
It has always been the case that KTLS is not compiled by default. However
if it is compiled then it was automatically used unless specifically
configured not to. This is problematic because it avoids any crypto

being performed outside of the FIPS boundary.

Instead we change KTLS so that it is disabled by default.

We also swap to using a single "option" (i.e. SSL_OP_ENABLE_KTLS) rather
than two separate "modes", (i.e. SSL_MODE_NO_KTLS_RX and
