85caa417e0 Disable DSA signing in the FIPS provider.
This is a FIPS 140-3 requirement.
This uses a FIP indicator if either the FIPS configurable "dsa_sign_disabled" is set to 0,
OR OSSL_SIGNATURE_PARAM_FIPS_SIGN_CHECK is set to 0 in the dsa signing context.

53b0527dd7 Remove check for RSA encryption allowing X9.31 padding.
X9.31 is a Signature Standard, and should not apply to encryption.

rsa_ossl_public_encrypt() does not allow this padding mode.
The openssl rsautil command line tool already failed if the
-x931 option was used with -encrypt

98afa01f3e fips: correctly initialise FIPS indicator settables
The `memset(3)` just happened to work because 2s complement.
This is more robust.

f35fc4f184 Fix kbkdf bug if MAC is set to KMAC and then something else
A context that is set to KMAC sets the is_kmac flag and this cannot be reset.
So a user that does kbkdf using KMAC and then wants to use HMAC or CMAC will
experience a failure.

c13ddf0a6c Change all existing FIPS configurable checks to use FIPS indicators.
This changes the logic to always do the security checks and then decide
what to do based on if this passes or not. Failure of a check causes
either a failure OR the FIPS indicator callback to be triggered.

0557d6c62b Add FIPS indicator callback.
Add a FIPS indicator callback that can be set via
OSSL_INDICATOR_set_callback(). This callback is intended to be run
whenever a non approved algorithm check has occurred and strict checking
has been disabled.The callback may be used to
log non approved algorithms. The callback is passed a type and
description string as well as the cbarg specified in OSSL_INDICATOR_set_callback.
The return value can be either 0 or 1.
A value of 0 can be used for testing purposes to force an error to occur from the algorithm
that called the callback.

42a8ef844e Fix usage of deallocated EVP_RAND_CTX after execution of FIPS on-demand self tests
Once RNG is used, triggering FIPS on-demand self tests (via
OSSL_PROVIDER_self_test() API) crashes the application. This happens because the
RNG context is stored before self tests, and restored after their execution.
In the meantime - before context restoration - RAND_set0_private() function is
called, which decrements the stored RNG context reference counter and frees it.
To resolve the issue, the stored RNG context refcount has been incremented via
the EVP_RAND_CTX_up_ref() API to avoid its deallocation during the RNG context
switch performed by the self test function.
The provider_status_test test has been updated to reproduce the issue as
a regression test.

973ddaa03f rsa-pss: add tests checking for SHAKE usage in RSA-PSS
FIPS 186-5, RFC 8692, RFC 8702 all agree and specify that Shake shall
be used directly as MGF (not as a hash in MGF1). Add tests that try to
specify shake hash as MGF1 to ensure that fails.

Separately the above standards specify how to use SHAKE as a message
digest with either fixed or minimum output lengths. However, currently
shake is not part of allowed hashes.

Note that rsa_setup_md()/rsa_setup_mgf1_md() call
ossl_digest_rsa_sign_get_md_nid() ->
ossl_digest_get_approved_nid_with_sha1() ->
ossl_digest_get_approved_nid() which only contain sha1/sha2/sha3
digests without XOF.

The digest test case will need to be replace if/when shake with
minimum output lengths is added to ossl_digest_get_approved_nid().

a192b2439c fips provider: explicitly setup cpuid when initializing
Fixes: #23979

Previously fips module relied on OPENSSL_cpuid_setup
being used as constructor by the linker to correctly
setup the capability vector, either via .section .init
(for x86_64) or via __attribute__((constructor)).

This would make ld.so call OPENSSL_cpuid_setup before
the init function for fips module. However, this early
constructing behavior has several disadvantages:

1. Not all platform/toolchain supports such behavior

2. Initialisation sequence is not well defined, and
some function might not be initialized when cpuid_setup
is called

3. Implicit path is hard to maintain and debug

fa338aa7cd fips: zeroization of public security parameters (PSPs)
ISO 19790:2012/Cor.1:2015 7.9 requires cryptographic module to provide
methods to zeroise all unproctected security sensitive parameters
(which inclues both Critical/Private **and** Public security
parameters). And those that are temprorarly stored are required to be
zeroised after they are no longer needed at security levels 2 and
higher.

Comply with the above requirements by always zeroising public security
parameters whenever they are freed.

This is currently done under the FIPS feature, however the requirement
comes from the ISO 19790:2012 which may also be needed in other
jurisdictions. If not always. Note FIPS 140-3 includes ISO 19790:2012
by reference.

15d6114d99 hkdf: when HMAC key is all zeros, still set a valid key length
By itself, this is no change in any computation. However, this will
unlock enforcing minimum key lengths for NIST and FIPS 140-3
requirements.

Also reading RFC8448 and RFC5869, this seems to be strictly correct
too.

fbce6ebf70 Implement PCT for EDDSA
According to FIPS 140-3 IG 10.3.A Additonal Comment 1, a PCT shall be
performed consistent with the intended use of the keys.

This commit implements PCT for EDDSA via performing sign and verify
operations after key generated.

Also use the same pairwise test logic in EVP_PKEY_keygen and
EVP_PKEY_pairwise_check for EDDSA in FIPS_MODULE.

Add OSSL_SELF_TEST_DESC_PCT_EDDSA to OSSL_PROVIDER-FIPS page.

6f22bcd631 Add appropriate NULL checks in EVP_CIPHER api
The EVP_CIPHER api currently assumes that calls made into several APIs
have already initalized the cipher in a given context via a call to
EVP_CipherInit[_ex[2]].  If that hasnt been done, instead of an error,
the result is typically a SIGSEGV.

Correct that by adding missing NULL checks in the apropriate apis prior

1d490694df Fix the encoding of SM2 keys
OpenSSL's encoding of SM2 keys used the SM2 OID for the algorithm OID
where an AlgorithmIdentifier is encoded (for encoding into the structures
PrivateKeyInfo and SubjectPublicKeyInfo).

Such keys should be encoded as ECC keys.

576a3572be Fix partial block encryption in cfb and ofb for s390x
Use the number of processed bytes information (num) from the generic
cipher context for the partial block handling in cfb and ofb, instead
of keep this information in the s390x-specific part of the cipher
context. The information in the generic context is reset properly,
even if the context is re-initialized without resetting the key or iv.

8b9cf1bc2c cleanse stack variable in blake2[b|s] finalization
If the output of a blake2[b|s] digest isn't a multipl of 8, then a stack
buffer is used to compute the final output, which is left un-zeroed
prior to return, allowing the potential leak of key data.  Ensure that,
if the stack variable is used, it gets cleared prior to return.

8d89050f0f validate requested key length in kdf_pbkdf1_do_derive
When using pbkdf1 key deriviation, it is possible to request a key
length larger than the maximum digest size a given digest can produce,
leading to a read of random stack memory.

fix it by returning an error if the requested key size n is larger than
the EVP_MD_size of the digest

The hmac flags OSSL_MAC_PARAM_DIGEST_NOINIT and
OSSL_MAC_PARAM_DIGEST_ONESHOT dont add any real value to the provider,
and the former causes a segfault when the provider attempts to call
EVP_MAC_init on an EVP_MAC object that has been instructed not to be
initalized (as the update function will not have been set in the MAC
object, which is unilaterally called from EVP_MAC_init

Remove the tests for the above flags, and document them as being
deprecated and ignored.

In leiu of testing this specific case, also add an ossl_assert in dsa_gen
to validate the gen_val input prior to continuing, should other code
points attempt to do the same thing

ff181969e2 evp-cmac: do not seg-fault when getting mac-size before init
Add null check to cmac_size().  This avoids a seg-fault encountered
with cmac when EVP_MAC_CTX_get_mac_size() is called before init.

Extend mac testing in evp_test.c to check that the sizes returned by
EVP_MAC_CTX_get_mac_size() before and after init make sense (this also
ensures that we no longer seg-fault).

ctx->propq that strdup from input parameter propq in sm2sig_newctx,

The new EVP_DigestSqueeze() API requires changes to all keccak-based
digest provider implementations. Update the s390x-part of the SHA3
digest provider.

5366490822 Add EVP_DigestSqueeze() API.
Fixes #7894

This allows SHAKE to squeeze multiple times with different output sizes.

The existing EVP_DigestFinalXOF() API has been left as a one shot
operation. A similar interface is used by another toolkit.

The low level SHA3_Squeeze() function needed to change slightly so
that it can handle multiple squeezes. This involves changing the
assembler code so that it passes a boolean to indicate whether
the Keccak function should be called on entry.
At the provider level, the squeeze is buffered, so that it only requests
a multiple of the blocksize when SHA3_Squeeze() is called. On the first
call the value is zero, on subsequent calls the value passed is 1.

This PR is derived from the excellent work done by @nmathewson in
https://github.com/openssl/openssl/pull/7921

94474e02fa riscv: Implement AES-192
Even though the RISC-V vector instructions only support AES-128 and
AES-256 for key generation, the round instructions themselves can
easily be used to implement AES-192 too - we just need to fallback to
the generic key generation routines in this case.

Note that the vector instructions use the encryption key schedule (but
in reverse order) so we need to generate the encryption key schedule
even when doing decryption using the vector instructions.

The upcoming RISC-V vector crypto extensions feature
a Zvksed extension, that provides SM4-specific instructions.
This patch provides an implementation that utilizes this
extension if available.

Tested on QEMU and no regressions observed.

ef9d8f2f1f Accept longer context for TLS 1.2 exporters
While RFC 5705 implies that the maximum length of context for
exporters to be 65535 bytes as the length is embedded in uint16, the
current implementation enforces much smaller limit, which is less than
1024 bytes.  This removes the restriction by dynamically allocating
memory.

6a0ae393dd Blake2b: Use OSSL_DIGEST_PARAM_SIZE as settable instead of XOFLEN
BLAKE2 is not really an extensible output function unlike SHAKE
as the digest size must be set during the context initialization.
Thus it makes no sense to use OSSL_DIGEST_PARAM_XOFLEN.

We also need to adjust EVP_DigestFinal_ex() to query the
OSSL_DIGEST_PARAM_SIZE as gettable ctx param for the size.

7998e7dc07 rand: fix seeding from a weak entropy source
The 'rand_generate' method is not well suited for being used with
weak entropy sources in the 'get_entropy' callback, because the
caller needs to provide a preallocated buffer without knowing
how much bytes are actually needed to collect the required entropy.

Instead we use the 'rand_get_seed' and 'rand_clear_seed' methods
which were exactly designed for this purpose: it's the callee who
allocates and fills the buffer, and finally cleans it up again.

The 'rand_get_seed' and 'rand_clear_seed' methods are currently
optional for a provided random generator. We could fall back to
using 'rand_generate' if those methods are not implemented.
However, imo it would be better to simply make them an officially
documented requirement for seed sources.

5516d20226 rand: add callbacks to cleanup the user entropy resp. nonce
The `get_user_{entropy,nonce}` callbacks were add recently to the
dispatch table in commit 4cde7585ce. Instead of adding corresponding
`cleanup_user_{entropy,nonce}` callbacks, the `cleanup_{entropy,nonce}`
callbacks were reused. This can cause a problem in the case where the
seed source is replaced by a provider: the buffer gets allocated by
the provider but cleared by the core.

1296c2ec78 Restore the meaning of EVP_PKEY_print_private()
With pre-3.0 OpenSSL, EVP_PKEY_print_private() calls the EVP_PKEY_ASN1_METHOD
function "priv_print", effectively asking the backend to print whatever it
regards as private key components.

In all backends that were built into libcrypto, this function printed what
was included in the private key structure, which usually includes the
public key components as well.

With OpenSSL 3.0, some of the corresponding key2text encoders got a
slightly different behavior, where the presence of the selector
OSSL_KEYMGMT_SELECT_PRIVATE_KEY without the presence of the selector
OSSL_KEYMGMT_SELECT_PUBLIC_KEY would only get what would intuitively be
regarded as private key components printed.  This isn't entirely consistent,
though, as the RSA key2text encoder will still print the public key
components regardless.

To compensate for the changed backend behavior, EVP_PKEY_print_private()
was made to ask the encoder to print the keypair rather than just the
private key, thereby moving the backend semantics to the application API.
Unfortunately, this causes confusion for providers where the key2text
encoder really should print the private key only.

This change restores the built-in 1.1.1 backend behavior in the encoders
that OpenSSL provides, and renders EVP_PKEY_print_private() more true to its
documented behavior, leaving it to the backend to decide what it regards as
"private key components".

Implement the dupctx method for the chacha20 cipher, so that
EVP_PKEY_CTX_copy works

Its pretty straightforward, its basically just a memdup.  Checking the
pointers that might need fixing up:

in PROV_CHACHA20_CTX all members are statically declared, so memduping
should be fine

in PROV_CHACHA20_CTX->base (PROV_CIPHER_CTX):
        Non statically declared members:
                *tlsmac needs to get memduped to avoid double free
                 conditions, but only if base.alloced is set
                *hw pointer is always assigned to the chacha20_hw global
                 variable, so can be left alone
                *libctx can be left alone as provctx is always NULL in
                 chacha20_newctx
                *ks appears unused by chacha20, so can be ignored

2acb0d363c When exporting/importing decoded keys do not use 0 as selection
When decoding 0 as the selection means to decode anything
you get.

However when exporting and then importing the key data 0 as
selection is not meaningful.
So we set it to OSSL_KEYMGMT_SELECT_ALL to make the export/import
function export/import everything that we have decoded.

f6484de23d Enable ARMv8.2 accelerated SHA3 on compatible Apple CPUs
The hardware-assisted ARMv8.2 implementation is already in keccak1600-armv8.pl.
It is not called because the author mentioned that it's not actually obvious
that it will provide performance improvements. The test on Apple M1 Firestorm
shows that the ARMv8.2 implementation could improve about 36% for large blocks.
So let's enable ARMv8.2 accelerated SHA3 on Apple CPU family.

32d3c3abf3 Optimise PKEY decoders
The most expensive part of using a PKEY decoder is the
OSSL_DECODER_CTX_new_for_pkey() call. This builds up all of the decoder
chains, which is a complex and time consuming operation. However, if no
new providers have been loaded/unloaded since the last time it was called
we can expect the same results for the same parameters. Note that this
operation takes place *before* we event parse the data for decoding so it
is not dependent on the parsed data at all.

We introduce a cache for OSSL_DECODER_CTX objects. If we have been called
with the same parameters then we just duplicate an existing
OSSL_DECODER_CTX. This should be significantly faster than creating a new
one every time.

c426c281cf Do not ignore empty associated data with AES-SIV mode
The AES-SIV mode allows for multiple associated data items
authenticated separately with any of these being 0 length.

The provided implementation ignores such empty associated data
which is incorrect in regards to the RFC 5297 and is also
a security issue because such empty associated data then become
unauthenticated if an application expects to authenticate them.

8e9ca33452 fips: use memory ordering rather than locks
The FIPS provider accesses it's current state under lock.
This is overkill, little or no synchronisation is actually required in
practice (because it's essentially a read only setting).  Switch to using
TSAN operations in preference.

e84b5fcc1b params: provide a faster TRIE based param lookup.
The separate file is a Perl script that generates the appropriate define
directives for inclusion in core_names.h.  By having this separation it
will be possible to prebuild data structures to give faster access when
looking up parameters by name.

61f11cad7a Enable obtaining certain DRBG params without a lock
Even if a DRBG has locking enabled on it, there are certain parameters
which are still safe to obtain even without a lock. The max_request
value is constant for all our DRBGs. The reseed_counter does not matter
if we get it wrong - so it is safe to avoid the lock. So if all we are
reading are those parameters then we take no lock at all.

189ad3ab20 Refactor the DRBG implementations to manage locking themselves
Previously the EVP layer would call lock and unlock functions on the
underlying DRBG implementation to say when a lock should be acquired and
released. This gives the DRBG implementation no say as to what kind of
lock should obtained (e.g. read/write) or even whether a lock is actually
needed or not.

In reality we know whether a DRBG is supposed to be in locking mode or
not because the "enable_locking()" function will have been called if
locks should be used. Therefore we re-interpret the lock and unlock
functions as "hints" from the EVP layer which we ignore. Instead we
acquire locks only when we need them. By knowing the context we can obtain
either a read or a write lock as appropriate.

This may mean that in some rare cases we acquire the locks more than once
for a single EVP call, if the EVP call makes several calls to the underlying
DRBG. But in practice almost all EVP calls only make one such call.
EVP_RAND_generate() is an example of a call where multiple DRBG calls may
be made. One of these gets the "max_request" parameter (which is constant
for all of our own DRBGs) and it may make several calls to the DRBG generate
call - but only if the requested size is very large which will rarely be
the case.

56a51b5a1e Update hkdf.c to avoid potentially vulnerable code pattern
The expression "if (a+b>c) a=c-b" is incorrect if "a+b" overflows.
It should be replaced by "if (a>c-b) a=c-b", which avoids the
potential overflow and is much easier to understand.

This pattern is the root cause of CVE-2022-37454, a buffer overflow
vulnerability in the "official" SHA-3 implementation.

It has been confirmed that the addition in
https://github.com/openssl/openssl/blob/master/providers/implementations/kdfs/hkdf.c#L534
cannot overflow. So this is only a minor change proposal to avoid
a potentially vulnerable code pattern and to improve readability.
