ba37b82045 dsa_check: Perform simple parameter check if seed is not available
Added primality check on p and q in the ossl_ffc_params_simple_validate().
Checking for p and q sizes in the default provider is made more
lenient.
Added two testcases for invalid parameters.

8b1db5d329 Make supported_groups code independent of EC and DH
The supported groups code was checking the OPENSSL_NO_EC and
OPENSSL_NO_DH guards in order to work, and the list of default groups was
based on those guards. However we now need it to work even in a no-ec
and no-dh build, because new groups might be added from providers.

f5a50c2a07 Enable locking on the primary DRBG when we create it
The primary DRBG may be shared across multiple threads and therefore
we must use locking to access it. Previously we were enabling that locking
lazily when we attempted to obtain one of the child DRBGs. Part of the
process of enabling the lock, is to create the lock. But if we create the
lock lazily then it is too late - we may race with other threads where each
thread is independently attempting to enable the locking. This results
in multiple locks being created - only one of which "sticks" and the rest
are leaked.

Instead we enable locking on the primary when we first create it. This is
already locked and therefore we cannot race.

d6d42cda5f Use centralized fetching errors
We've spread around FETCH_FAILED errors in quite a few places, and
that gives somewhat crude error records, as there's no way to tell if
the error was unavailable algorithms or some other error at such high
levels.

As an alternative, we take recording of these kinds of errors down to
the fetching functions, which are in a much better place to tell what
kind of error it was, thereby relieving the higher level calls from
having to guess.

9e49aff2aa Add SM2 private key range validation
According to the relevant standards, the valid range for SM2 private

For this reason we cannot reuse the EC validation function as it is, and
we introduce a new internal function `sm2_key_private_check()`.

ae69da05a7 Move the caching of cipher constants into evp_cipher_from_dispatch
Previously we cached the cipher constants in EVP_CIPHER_fetch(). However,
this means we do the caching every time we call that function, even if
the core has previusly fetched the cipher and cached it already. This
means we can end up re-caching the constants even though they are already
present. This also means we could be updating these constants from
multiple threads at the same time.

89cccbea51 Add EVP_KDF-X942 to the fips module
The X942 KDF had been modified so that it supports all optional fields - not
just the fields used by CMS.

As there are 2 types of KDF for X942 - this has been made a bit clearer
by adding an X942KDF-ASN1 alias. X942KDF-CONCAT has also been added as an
alias of X963KDF.

This work was instigated as a result of the ACVP tests optionally being
able to use keybits for the supp_pubinfo field.
Setting the parameter OSSL_KDF_PARAM_X942_USE_KEYBITS to 0 allows this
to be disabled.

0b3a4ef27a Move CMS enveloping code out of the algorithms and into CMS
There is quite a large amount of algorithm specific CMS code sitting in
the algorithm directories. However, this seems to break layering.
Algorithms really have no business knowing anything about CMS. Really it
should be the other way around. Where there is algorithm specific CMS code
it is the CMS layer that should know how to handle different algorithms.

Therefore we move this code into the CMS layer.

63f187cfed STORE: Add a built-in 'file:' storemgmt implementation (loader)
This replaces the older 'file:' loader that is now an engine.

It's still possible to use the older 'file:' loader by explicitly
using the engine, and tests will remain for it as long as ENGINEs are
still supported (even through deprecated).

To support this storemgmt implementation, a few internal OSSL_DECODER
modifications are needed:

- An internal function that implements most of
    OSSL_DECODER_CTX_new_by_EVP_PKEY(), but operates on an already
    existing OSSL_DECODER_CTX instead of allocating a new one.
- Allow direct creation of a OSSL_DECODER from an OSSL_ALGORITHM.
    It isn't attached to any provider, and is only used internally, to
    simply catch any DER encoded object to be passed back to the
    object callback with no further checking. This implementation
    becomes the last resort decoder, when all "normal"
    decodation attempts (i.e. those that are supposed to result
    in an OpenSSL object of some sort) have failed.

Because file_store_attach() uses BIO_tell(), we must also support
BIO_ctrl() as a libcrypto upcall.

87d91d223b Fix PEM_write_bio_PrivateKey_traditional() to not output PKCS#8
PEM_write_bio_PrivateKey_traditional() uses i2d_PrivateKey() to do the
actual encoding to DER. However, i2d_PrivateKey() is a generic
function that will do what it can to produce output according to what
the associated EVP_PKEY_ASN1_METHOD offers. If that method offers a
function 'old_priv_encode', which is expected to produce the
"traditional" encoded form, then i2d_PrivateKey() uses that. If not,
i2d_PrivateKey() will go on and used more modern methods, which are
all expected to produce PKCS#8.

To ensure that PEM_write_bio_PrivateKey_traditional() never produces
more modern encoded forms, an extra check that 'old_priv_encode' is
non-NULL is added. If it is NULL, an error is returned.

2274d22d39 STORE: Distinguish public keys from private keys

ac2d58c72b Implement a EVP_PKEY KDF to KDF provider bridge
Some KDF implementations were available before the current EVP_KDF API.
They were used via EVP_PKEY_derive. There exists a bridge between the old
API and the EVP_KDF API however this bridge itself uses a legacy
EVP_PKEY_METHOD. This commit implements a provider side bridge without
having to use any legacy code.

7d615e2178 rand_drbg: remove RAND_DRBG.
The RAND_DRBG API did not fit well into the new provider concept as
implemented by EVP_RAND and EVP_RAND_CTX. The main reason is that the
RAND_DRBG API is a mixture of 'front end' and 'back end' API calls
and some of its API calls are rather low-level. This holds in particular
for the callback mechanism (RAND_DRBG_set_callbacks()) and the RAND_DRBG
type changing mechanism (RAND_DRBG_set()).

Adding a compatibility layer to continue supporting the RAND_DRBG API as
a legacy API for a regular deprecation period turned out to come at the
price of complicating the new provider API unnecessarily. Since the
RAND_DRBG API exists only since version 1.1.1, it was decided by the OMC
to drop it entirely.

Other related changes:

Use RNG instead of DRBG in EVP_RAND documentation. The documentation was
using DRBG in places where it should have been RNG or CSRNG.

Move the RAND_DRBG(7) documentation to EVP_RAND(7).

7c664b1f1b DESERIALIZER: Add deserializers for the rest of our asymmetric key types
To be able to implement this, there was a need for the standard
EVP_PKEY_set1_, EVP_PKEY_get0_ and EVP_PKEY_get1_ functions for
ED25519, ED448, X25519 and X448, as well as the corresponding

hard coded names that EVP_PKEY_is_a() recognise.

Along with this, OSSL_FUNC_keymgmt_load() are implemented for all
those key types.

The deserializers for these key types are all implemented generically,

c3e4c1f325 DESERIALIZER: Add foundation for deserializers
This adds a method OSSL_DESERIALIZER, a deserializer context and basic
support to use a set of serializers to get a desired type of data, as
well as deserializer chains.

The idea is that the caller can call OSSL_DESERIALIZER_CTX_add_serializer()
to set up the set of desired results, and to add possible chains, call
OSSL_DESERIALIZER_CTX_add_extra(). All these deserializers are pushed
on an internal stack.

The actual deserialization is then performed using functions like
OSSL_DESERIALIZER_from_bio().  When performing deserialization, the
inernal stack is walked backwards, keeping track of the deserialized
data and its type along the way, until the data kan be processed into
the desired type of data.

This commit detects such cases, raises an error and returns appropriate

handled by the callers, when serializing EC parameters or EC keys with
the default `ec_param_enc:named_curve`.

5d8b3a3ef2 Refactor BN_R_NO_INVERSE logic in internal functions
Closes #12129

As described in https://github.com/openssl/openssl/issues/12129 the
readability of the internal functions providing the two alternative
implementations for `BN_mod_inverse()` is a bit lacking.

Both these functions are now completely internal, so we have the
flexibility needed to slightly improve readability and remove
unnecessary NULL checks.

The main changes here are:
- rename `BN_mod_inverse_no_branch()` as `bn_mod_inverse_no_branch()`:
  this function is `static` so it is not even visible within the rest of
  libcrypto. By convention upcase prefixes are reserved for public
  functions.
- remove `if (pnoinv == NULL)` checks in `int_bn_mod_inverse()`: this
  function is internal to the BN module and we can guarantee that all
  callers pass non-NULL arguments.
- `bn_mod_inverse_no_branch()` takes an extra `int *pnoinv` argument, so
  that it can signal if no inverse exists for the given inputs: in this
  way the caller is in charge of raising `BN_R_NO_INVERSE` as it is the
  case for the non-consttime implementation of `int_bn_mod_inverse()`.
- `BN_mod_inverse()` is a public function and must guarantee that the
  internal functions providing the actual implementation receive valid
  arguments. If the caller passes a NULL `BN_CTX` we create a temporary
  one for internal use.
- reorder function definitions in `crypto/bn/bn_gcd.c` to avoid forward
  declaration of `static` functions (in preparation for inlining).
- inline `bn_mod_inverse_no_branch()`.

The EVP_PKEY_ASN1_METHOD code used by CMS_RecipientInfo_kari_decrypt()

downgrades a provider side EVP_PKEY to become EVP_PKEY_ASN1_METHOD /
EVP_PKEY_METHOD based.

acb90ba8ff EVP: Downgrade keys rather than upgrade
Upgrading EVP_PKEYs from containing legacy keys to containing provider
side keys proved to be risky, with a number of unpleasant corner
cases, and with functions like EVP_PKEY_get0_DSA() failing
unexpectedly.

We therefore change course, and instead of upgrading legacy internal
keys to provider side internal keys, we downgrade provider side
internal keys to legacy ones. To be able to do this, we add
|import_from| and make it a callback function designed for
evp_keymgmt_export().

This means that evp_pkey_upgrade_to_provider() is replaced with
evp_pkey_downgrade().

EVP_PKEY_copy_parameters() is the most deeply affected function of
this change.

2e3ec2e157 Code to thread-safety in ChangeCipherState
The server-side ChangeCipherState processing stores the new cipher
in the SSL_SESSION object, so that the new state can be used if
this session gets resumed. However, writing to the session is only
thread-safe for initial handshakes, as at other times the session
object may be in a shared cache and in use by another thread at the
same time. Reflect this invariant in the code by only writing to
s->session->cipher when it is currently NULL (we do not cache sessions
with no cipher). The code prior to this change would never actually
change the (non-NULL) cipher value in a session object, since our
server enforces that (pre-TLS-1.3) resumptions use the exact same
cipher as the initial connection, and non-abbreviated renegotiations
have produced a new session object before we get to this point.
Regardless, include logic to detect such a condition and abort the
handshake if it occurs, to avoid any risk of inadvertently using
the wrong cipher on a connection.

75ff4f7404 DRBG: delay initialization of DRBG method until instantiation
Previously, the initialization was done immediately in RAND_DRBG_set(),
which is also called in RAND_DRBG_uninstantiate().

This made it difficult for the FIPS DRBG self test to verify that the
internal state had been zeroized, because it had the side effect that
the drbg->data structure was reinitialized immediately.

To solve the problem, RAND_DRBG_set() has been split in two parts

    static int rand_drbg_set(RAND_DRBG *drbg, int type, unsigned int flags);
    static int rand_drbg_init_method(RAND_DRBG *drbg);

and only the first part is called from RAND_DRBG_uninstantiate().

d9a7510747 Teach the RSA implementation about TLS RSA Key Transport
In TLSv1.2 a pre-master secret value is passed from the client to the
server encrypted using RSA PKCS1 type 2 padding in a ClientKeyExchange
message. As well as the normal formatting rules for RSA PKCA1 type 2
padding TLS imposes some additional rules about what constitutes a well
formed key. Specifically it must be exactly the right length and
encode the TLS version originally requested by the client (as opposed to
the actual negotiated version) in its first two bytes.

All of these checks need to be done in constant time and, if they fail,
then the TLS implementation is supposed to continue anyway with a random
key (and therefore the connection will fail later on). This avoids
padding oracle type attacks.

This commit implements this within the RSA padding code so that we keep
all the constant time padding logic in one place. A later commit will
remove it from libssl.

866234ac35 SERIALIZER: add support for serializing EVP_PKEYs
The following public functions is added:

- OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_new_by_EVP_PKEY()
- OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_cipher()
- OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_passphrase()
- OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_passphrase_cb()
- OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_passphrase_ui()

OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_new_by_EVP_PKEY() selects a suitable serializer
for the given EVP_PKEY, and sets up the OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX to
function together with OSSL_SERIALIZER_to_bio() and
OSSL_SERIALIZER_to_fp().

OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_cipher() indicates what cipher should be used
to produce an encrypted serialization of the EVP_PKEY. This is passed
directly to the provider using OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_params().

OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_passphrase() can be used to set a pass phrase
to be used for the encryption. This is passed directly to the
provider using OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_params().

OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_passphrase_cb() and
OSSL_SERIALIZER_CTX_set_passphrase_ui() sets up a callback to be used
to prompt for a passphrase. This is stored in the context, and is
called via an internal intermediary at the time of serialization.

The code has been modularized so that it can be shared by algorithms.

A fixed size IV is now used instead of being allocated.
The IV is not set into the low level struct now until the update (it uses an
iv_state for this purpose).

Hardware specific methods have been added to a PROV_GCM_HW object.

The S390 code has been changed to just contain methods that can be accessed in
a modular way. There are equivalent generic methods also for the other
platforms.
