an external negative test. Originally the old code was semi working by checking the peers public key was in the range of other parties p. It was not actually ever

parties. It now checks the parameters match as well as validating the

The client-side cert verification callback function may not only return
as usual for success or 0 for failure, but also -1,
typically on failure verifying the server certificate.
This makes the handshake suspend and return control to the calling application
with SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY.
The app can for instance fetch further certificates or cert status information
needed for the verification.
Calling SSL_connect() again resumes the connection attempt
by retrying the server certificate verification step.
This process may even be repeated if need be.
The core implementation of the feature is in ssl/statem/statem_clnt.c,
splitting tls_process_server_certificate() into a preparation step
that just copies the certificates received from the server to s->session->peer_chain
(rather than having them in a local variable at first) and returns to the state machine,
and a post-processing step in tls_post_process_server_certificate() that can be repeated:
Try verifying the current contents of s->session->peer_chain basically as before,
but give the verification callback function the chance to pause connecting and
make the TLS state machine later call tls_post_process_server_certificate() again.
Otherwise processing continues as usual.
The documentation of the new feature is added to SSL_CTX_set_cert_verify_callback.pod
and SSL_want.pod.
This adds two tests:
* A generic test in test/helpers/handshake.c
on the usability of the new server cert verification retry feature.
It is triggered via test/ssl-tests/03-custom_verify.cnf.in (while the bulky auto-
generated changes to test/ssl-tests/03-custom_verify.cnf can be basically ignored).
* A test in test/sslapitest.c that demonstrates the effectiveness of the approach
for augmenting the cert chain provided by the server in between SSL_connect() calls.

Aes-xts mode can be optimized by interleaving cipher operation on
several blocks and loop unrolling. Interleaving needs one ideal
unrolling factor, here we adopt the same factor with aes-cbc,
which is described as below:
If blocks number > 5, select 5 blocks as one iteration,every
loop, decrease the blocks number by 5.
If left blocks < 5, treat them as tail blocks.
Detailed implementation has a little adjustment for squeezing
code space.
With this way, for small size such as 16 bytes, the performance is
similar as before, but for big size such as 16k bytes, the performance
improves a lot, even reaches to 2x uplift, for some arches such as A57,
the improvement even reaches more than 2x uplift. We collect many
performance datas on different micro-archs such as thunderx2,
ampere-emag, a72, a75, a57, a53 and N1, all of which reach 0.5-2x uplift.
The following table lists the encryption performance data on aarch64,

unit of cycles per byte, takes the format as comparision of values.

Keys with such groups that are included in evp_test stanza files
aren't even possible to decode if provider side decoders are used,

Added test to show the 3 different stages the self test can be run (for installation, loading and on demand).
For the fips provider:
- If the on demand self test fails, then any subsequent fetches should also fail. To implement this the
cached algorithms are flushed on failure.
- getting the self test callback in the fips provider is a bit complicated since the callback hangs off the core
libctx (as it is set by the application) not the actual fips library context. Also the callback can be set at
any time not just during the OSSL_provider_init() so it is calculated each time before doing any self test.

The RAND_DRBG API did not fit well into the new provider concept as
implemented by EVP_RAND and EVP_RAND_CTX. The main reason is that the
RAND_DRBG API is a mixture of 'front end' and 'back end' API calls
and some of its API calls are rather low-level. This holds in particular
for the callback mechanism (RAND_DRBG_set_callbacks()) and the RAND_DRBG
type changing mechanism (RAND_DRBG_set()).
Adding a compatibility layer to continue supporting the RAND_DRBG API as
a legacy API for a regular deprecation period turned out to come at the
price of complicating the new provider API unnecessarily. Since the
RAND_DRBG API exists only since version 1.1.1, it was decided by the OMC
to drop it entirely.

This test revolves around a central function that will first serialize
an EVP_PKEY, then deserialize the result into a new EVP_PKEY and
compare the two.
The following tests are currently implemented:
1. EVP_PKEY (RSA) -> DER, then DER -> EVP_PKEY (RSA).
2. EVP_PKEY (RSA) -> PEM, then PEM -> EVP_PKEY (RSA).
This one exercises deserializer chains, as we know that there is a
PEM -> DER and a DER -> EVP_PKEY (RSA) deserializer, but no direct
PEM -> EVP_PKEY (RSA) deserializer.

Fixes#12449
On a aix7_ppc32 machine the error was of the form
match 'Previous owner died ' (2147483743) with one of ( 'Previous owner died', 'reason(95)' )
Stripping the trailing whitespace from the system error will address this issue.

Added Algorithm names AES-128-CBC-CTS, AES-192-CBC-CTS and AES-256-CBC-CTS.
CS1, CS2 and CS3 variants are supported.
Only single shot updates are supported.
The cipher returns the mode EVP_CIPH_CBC_MODE (Internally it shares the aes_cbc cipher code). This
would allow existing code that uses AES_CBC to switch to the CTS variant without breaking code that
tests for this mode. Because it shares the aes_cbc code the cts128.c functions could not be used directly.
The cipher returns the flag EVP_CIPH_FLAG_CTS.
EVP_CIPH_FLAG_FIPS & EVP_CIPH_FLAG_NON_FIPS_ALLOW have been deprecated.

Fixes#11864
- The dsa keygen assumed valid p, q, g values were being passed. If this is not correct then it is
possible that dsa keygen can either hang or segfault.
The fix was to do a partial validation of p, q, and g inside the keygen.
- Fixed a potential double free in the dsa keypair test in the case when in failed (It should never fail!).
It freed internal object members without setting them to NULL.
- Changed the FFC key validation to accept 1024 bit keys in non fips mode.
- Added tests that use both the default provider & fips provider to test these cases.

with a Test::More TODO section for those particular tests.
Because the tests in this recipe are data driven, we implement this

This commit adds a new recipe to test EC key generation with the
`genpkey` CLI app.
For each built-in curve, it tests key generation with text output, in
PEM and in DER format, using `explicit` and `named_curve` for parameters
encoding.
The list of built-in curves is static at the moment, as this allows to
differentiate between prime curves and binary curves to avoid failing
when ec2m is disabled.

For FIPS validation purposes - Automated Cryptographic Validation Protocol (ACVP) tests need to be
performed. (See https://github.com/usnistgov/ACVP). These tests are very similiar to the old CAVS tests.
This PR uses a hardwired subset of these test vectors to perform similiar operations,
to show the usage and prove that the API's are able to perform the required operations.
It may also help with communication with the lab (i.e- The lab could add a test here to show
a unworking use case - which we can then address).
The EVP layer performs these tests instead of calling lower level API's
as was done in the old FOM.
Some of these tests require access to internals that are not normally allowed/required.
The config option 'acvp_tests' (enabled by default) has been added so that this
access may be removed.
The mechanism has been implemented as additional OSSL_PARAM values that can be set and get.
A callback mechanism did not seem to add any additional benefit.
These params will not be added to the gettables lists.

There are cases where the fallback providers aren't treated right.
For example, the following calls, in that order, will end up with
a failed EVP_KEYMGMT_fetch(), even thought the default provider
does supply an implementation of the "RSA" keytype.
EVP_KEYMGMT *rsameth = NULL;
OSSL_PROVIDER_available(NULL, "default");
rsameth = EVP_KEYMGMT_fetch(NULL, "RSA", NULL);
For good measure, this also tests that explicit loading of the default
provider won't fail.
