ld testsuite: change unresolved to unsupported/fail
"unresolved" as a test result means runtest returns an error, which can be confusing when there is no apparent error unless you look in .log files. In particular many tests are skipped without reporting an error if no target C compiler is found, but if a target C compiler is found but won't compile a testcase for some reason we used to mark the test as unresolved. Which is no more worthy of an error than when lacking a C compiler entirely. * testsuite/ld-cdtest/cdtest.exp, * testsuite/ld-checks/checks.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/binutils.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/compress.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/dwarf.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/exclude.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/frame.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/indirect.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/linux-x86.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/sec-to-seg.exp, * testsuite/ld-elf/tls_common.exp, * testsuite/ld-elfcomm/elfcomm.exp, * testsuite/ld-elfvers/vers.exp, * testsuite/ld-elfvsb/elfvsb.exp, * testsuite/ld-elfweak/elfweak.exp, * testsuite/ld-ifunc/binutils.exp, * testsuite/ld-mips-elf/mips-elf-flags.exp, * testsuite/ld-misc/defsym.exp, * testsuite/ld-mn10300/mn10300.exp, * testsuite/ld-plugin/lto.exp, * testsuite/ld-plugin/plugin.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/align.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/assert.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/crossref.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/defined.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/extern.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/log2.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/map-address.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/phdrs.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/phdrs2.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/script.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/section-flags.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/sizeof.exp, * testsuite/ld-scripts/weak.exp, * testsuite/ld-selective/selective.exp, * testsuite/ld-sh/sh.exp, * testsuite/ld-shared/shared.exp, * testsuite/ld-srec/srec.exp, * testsuite/ld-tic6x/tic6x.exp, * testsuite/ld-undefined/undefined.exp, * testsuite/ld-undefined/weak-undef.exp, * testsuite/lib/ld-lib.exp: Don't use unresolved except after perror. ld/elf/x86: Don't compare IFUNC address in the shared object
On x86, glibc 2.33 starts to issue a fatal error message when calling IFUNC function defined in the unrelocated executable from a shared library. 1. Update x86 ELF linker to always convert IFUNC function defined in position-dependent executable (PDE) to the normal function. GOT in PDE will be updated by R_*_IRELATIVE at run-time. 2. Update PR ld/23169 tests not to compare function address of external IFUNC function in the shared object to avoid calling the IFUNC function defined in the unrelocated executable. 3. Remove pr23169e tests which call the IFUNC function defined in the unrelocated position-independent executable from a shared library. bfd/ PR ld/23169 * elfxx-x86.c (_bfd_x86_elf_link_fixup_ifunc_symbol): Don't check pointer_equality_needed. ld/ PR ld/23169 * testsuite/ld-ifunc/ifunc.exp: Replace pr23169c.rd with pr23169a.rd for pr23169c and pr23169f. Remove pr23169e tests. * testsuite/ld-ifunc/pr23169a.c (foo): Don't compare function address. |

ELF: Don't generate unused section symbols
For ELF targets, section symbols are required only for relocations. With -ffunction-sections -fdata-sections, there can be many unused section symbols. Sizes of libstdc++.a on Linux/x86-64 in GCC 11 are With unused section symbols : 39411698 bytes Without unused section symbols: 39227002 bytes The unused section symbols in libstdc++.a occupy more than 180 KB. Add BSF_SECTION_SYM_USED to indicate if a section symbol should be included in the symbol table. The BSF_SECTION_SYM_USED should be set if the section symbol is used for relocation or the section symbol is always included in the symbol table. Add keep_unused_section_symbols to bfd_target to indicate if unused section symbols should be kept. If TARGET_KEEP_UNUSED_SECTION_SYMBOLS is defined as FALSE, unused ection symbols will be removed. Tested on Linux/x86. Other ELF backends need to: 1. Define TARGET_KEEP_UNUSED_SECTION_SYMBOLS to FALSE. 2. Mark used section symbols in assembler backend. 3. Remove unused section symbols from expected assembler and linker outputs. bfd/ PR 27109 * aix386-core.c (core_aix386_vec): Initialize keep_unused_section_symbol to TARGET_KEEP_UNUSED_SECTION_SYMBOLS. * aout-target.h (MY (vec)): Likewise. * binary.c (binary_vec): Likewise. * cisco-core.c (core_cisco_be_vec): Likewise. RISC-V: Support GNU indirect functions.
Generally, glibc dynamic linker should have two ways to deal with ifunc - one is to handle the IRELATIVE relocations for the non-preemtive ifunc symbols, the other is to handle the R_RISCV_32/64 and R_RISCV_JUMP_SLOT relocations with the STT_IFUNC preemtive symbols. No matter which method is used, both of them should get the resolved ifunc symbols at runtime. Therefore, linker needs to generate the correct dynamic relocations for ifunc to make sure the the dynamic linker works well. For now, there are thirteen relocations are supported for ifunc in GNU ld, * R_RISCV_CALL and R_RISCV_CALL_PLT: The RISC-V compiler won't generate R_RISCV_JAL directly to jump to an ifunc. Besides, we disable the relaxations for the relocation referenced to ifunc, so just handling the R_RISCV_CALL and R_RISCV_CALL_PLT should be enough. Linker should generate a .plt entry and a .got.plt entry for it, and also needs to insert a dynamic IRELATIVE in the .got.plt enrty, or insert a R_RISCV_JUMP_SLOT when generating shared library. * R_RISCV_PCREL_HI20 and R_RISCV_PCREL_LO12_I/S: LA/LLA pattern with local fPIC ifunc symbol, or any non-PIC ifunc symbol. The PC-relative relocation. The current linker will deal with them in the same way as R_RISCV_CALL_PLT. * R_RISCV_GOT_HI20 and R_RISCV_PCREL_LO12_I/S: LA pattern with global PIC ifunc symbol. Linker should insert a dynamic IRELATIVE in the .got entry, or insert a R_RISCV_32/64 when generating shared library. * R_RISCV_32 and R_RISCV_64: Store the ifunc symbol into the data section. Linker should insert a dynamic IRELATIVE in the data section, or insert a R_RISCV_32/64 when generating shared library. * R_RISCV_HI20 and R_RISCV_LO12_I/S: The LUI + ADDI/LW/SW patterns. The absolute access relocation. The medlow model without the -fPIC compiler option should generate them. The ld ifunc testsuites "Build pr23169a" and "Build pr23169d" need the relocations, they are in the ld/testsuite/ld-ifunc/, and need compiler support. However, we also made some optimizations with reference to x86, * If GOT and PLT relocations refer to the same ifunc symbol when generating pie, then they can actually share a .got entry without creating two entries to store the same value and relocation. * If GOT, PLT and DATA relocations refer to the same ifunc symbol when generating position dependency executable, then linker will fill the address of .plt entry into the corresponding .got entry and data section, without insert any dynamic relocations for the GOT and DATA relocations. For the ifunc testcases, there are three types of them, 1. ifunc-reloc-*: Only check the single type of relocation refers to ifunc symbol. * ifunc-reloc-call: R_RISCV_CALL and R_RISCV_CALL_PLT. * ifunc-reloc-data: R_RISCV_32 and R_RISCV_64. * ifunc-reloc-got: R_RISCV_GOT_HI20 and R_RISCV_PCREL_LO_I/S. * ifunc-reloc-pcrel: R_RISCV_PCREL_HI20 and R_RISCV_PCREL_LO_I/S. 2. ifunc-[nonplt|plt]-*: If we don't have PLT relocs, then don't need to create the PLT and it's .plt entries. * ifunc-nonplt: Combine R_RISCV_GOT_HI20 and R_RISCV_32/64. * ifunc-plt: Combine all ifunc relocations. 3. ifunc-seperate-*: If we link the ifunc caller and resolver into the same module (link the objects), then the results are the same as the ifunc-reloc-* and ifunc-[noplt|plt]-* testcases. Consider the cases that the ifunc callers and resolver are in the different modules, that is, we compile the ifunc resolver to the shared library first, and then link it with the ifunc callers. The output of ifunc callers should be the same as the normal STT_FUNC cases, and the shared ifunc resolver should define the symbols as STT_IFUNC. The R_RISCV_PCREL_HI20 reloc is special. It should be linked and resolved locally, so if the ifunc resolver is defined in other modules (other shared libraries), then the R_RISCV_PCREL_HI20 is unresolvable, and linker should issue an unresolvable reloc error. bfd/ * elfnn-riscv.c: Include "objalloc.h" since we need objalloc_alloc. (riscv_elf_link_hash_table): Add loc_hash_table and loc_hash_memory for local STT_GNU_IFUNC symbols. (riscv_elf_got_plt_val): Removed. ld: Add -fno-lto to linker tests
LTO can be used to build binutils with $ CC="gcc -flto -ffat-lto-objects -Wl,--as-needed" CXX="g++ -flto -ffat-lto-objects -Wl,--as-needed" .../configure But not all linker tests are compatible with LTO. x86: avoid attaching suffixes to unambiguous insns
"Unambiguous" is is in particular taking as reference the assembler, which also accepts certain insns - despite them allowing for varying operand size, and hence in principle being ambiguous - without any suffix. For example, from the very beginning of the life of x86-64 I had trouble understanding why a plain and simple RET had to be printed as RETQ. In case someone really used the 16-bit form, RETW disambiguates the two quite fine. |

pr18841 tests on powerpc64
The PR18841 test does cross-module calls from within an ifunc resolver, which is nasty, and not supported in general since the called function may not be relocated. In this case the called function (zoo) is just a stub so doesn't need relocating, but on ppc64 the function descriptor for zoo in the executable won't be relocated at the time the shared library ifunc resolver runs. That means the test will fail if your compiler generates PIEs by default. PR 18841 * testsuite/ld-ifunc/ifunc.exp: Run pr18841 tests non-pie. |

ld: Disable ifunc tests on Solaris
A couple of ld ifunc tests currently FAIL on 64-bit Solaris/x86: FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-10-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-11-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-12-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-13-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-14a-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-14b-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-14c-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-14d-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-14e-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-14f-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-15-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-17a-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-17b-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-2-local-x86-64-now FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-2-local-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-2-x86-64-now FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-2-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-20-x86-64 FAIL: ld-ifunc/pr17154-x86-64-now FAIL: ld-ifunc/pr17154-x86-64 For one, the actual error is weird: ./ld-new: target elf64-x86-64 not found failed with: <./ld-new: target elf64-x86-64 not found>, no expected output FAIL: ld-ifunc/ifunc-10-x86-64 although ld -V does report the elf_x86_64 emulation as supported: $ ./ld/ld-new -V GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.34.50.20200328 Supported emulations: elf_x86_64_sol2 elf_x86_64 [...] When using ld -m elf_x86_64_sol2 instead, one of the testcases links successfully. However, there's no point in pursuing this: Solaris does not support ifunc, as can be seen in <sys/elf.h>: /* * GNU/Linux specific symbol type not used by Solaris */ #define STT_GNU_IFUNC 10 and never will, given that it has symbol capabilities as solution to effectively the same problem: http://www.linker-aliens.org/blogs/rie/entry/symbol_capabilitie/ Therefore this patch disables ifunc testing on Solaris completely by removing Solaris from binutils/testsuite/lib/binutils-common.exp (supports_gnu_osabi). The ifunc part is justified above. SHF_GNU_MBIND is in the OS-specific range and conflicts with #define SHF_SUNW_REALLOC 0x01000000 /* internal: krtld realloc */ While the comment suggests this might be relocatable without too much problems, the description of mbind (no formal spec AFAICS, just the comment in the binutils patch submission) strongly suggests that this isn't relevant to Solaris at all. Indirectly, clearing supports_gnu_osabi on Solaris disables supports_gnu_unique. Again, Solaris <sys/elf.h> has /* * GNU/Linux specific binding not used by Solaris */ #define STB_GNU_UNIQUE 10 so this seems the right thing to do. Afterwards, one can remove the explicit mentions of *-*-solaris2* in quite a number of (but not all) the ld-ifunc dump file notarget lists. There's one fallout, though: two gas tests now XPASS because they are xfail'ed for !supports_gnu_osabi: XPASS: mbind sections 12 XPASS: mbind section contents 16 XPASS: mbind sections 16 XPASS: mbind section contents 16 To fix that, I've changed #xfail: ![supports_gnu_osabi] to notarget. Use better test for usable compiler in ld testsuite.
The ld testsuite includes numerous tests that depend on being able to compile and link programs with the C compiler. Some of these tests use [which $CC] to check for the presence of the compiler before proceeding with the test, but run_ld_link_exec_tests and run_cc_link_tests give ERRORs if compilation fails. Also, even if $CC is defined and present, it may not be usable due to missing libraries, etc. This patch adds a new procedure check_compiler_available that attempts to build an empty program and caches the result. Uses of [which $CC] are replaced with calls to this procedure, and run_ld_link_exec_tests and run_cc_link_tests now also guard attempts to use $CC. 2019-04-24 Sandra Loosemore <sandra@codesourcery.com> ld/ * testsuite/config/default.exp: Use [check_compiler_available] instead of [which $CC]. * testsuite/ld-auto-import/auto-import.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-cygwin/exe-export.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/audit.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/compress.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/dwarf.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/elf.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/indirect.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/linux-x86.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/shared.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/tls.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/wrap.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elfcomm/elfcomm.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elfvers/vers.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elfvsb/elfvsb.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elfweak/elfweak.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-gc/gc.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-i386/i386.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-i386/no-plt.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-i386/tls.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-ifunc/ifunc.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-mn10300/mn10300.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-pe/pe-compile.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-pe/pe-run.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-pe/pe-run2.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-pie/pie.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-plugin/lto.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-plugin/plugin.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/crossref.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-sh/sh.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-shared/shared.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-size/size.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-srec/srec.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-undefined/undefined.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-unique/unique.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-x86-64/mpx.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-x86-64/no-plt.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-x86-64/tls.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-x86-64/x86-64.exp: Likewise. * testsuite/lib/ld-lib.exp (run_ld_link_exec_tests): Call check_compiler_available before trying to use the compiler. [PATCH, LD, AArch64] Fix ifunc testisms
This patch fixes some ifunc testisms after H.J. Lu's patch to enable the use of IFUNC pointers in position dependent code for binutils. See PR LD/23169 in binutils bugzilla. The aarch64 ifunc error message test was changed to no longer expect this error message as this is now an accepted combination. This patch also disables the executable tests added by H.J. Lu for aarch64, just as Alan Modra did with his patch, as these tests only seem to work on some architectures. ld/ChangeLog: 2018-07-19 Andre Vieira <andre.simoesdiasvieira@arm.com> * testsuite/ld-aarch64/ifunc-9.d: Remove no longer expected error. * testsuite/ld-ifunc/ifunc.exp: Disable tests for aarch64. |

ld testsuite use of notarget
Much of the time it is better to use xfail rather than notarget to hide a testsuite failure no one is planning on fixing. 1) When a target is fixed, an inappropriate xfail results in XPASS whereas notarget is silent. Leaving in an inappropriate notarget entry risks the bug reappearing later, silently. 2) Tests might be used as a template for a new test, carrying over notarget and/or xfail. Inappropriate notarget entries are silent. 3) An xfailed test that mysteriously XPASSes might actually indicate a bug. * testsuite/ld-elf/attributes.d: Use xfail rather than notarget. * testsuite/ld-elf/hash.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/orphan-10.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/overlay.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr14926.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr17550d.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr19539.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr22319.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-misc/defsym1.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-pe/pr19803.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/assign-loc.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/defined4.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/empty-address-1.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/empty-address-2a.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/empty-address-2b.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/fill.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/fill16.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/pr14962.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/pr14962-2.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-unique/pr21529.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/compress1a.d: Likewise, and adjust targets. * testsuite/ld-elf/compressed1a.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/compressed1d.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/compressed1e.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/eh5.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/group8a.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/linkonce2.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/orphan-9.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr17550a.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr17550b.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr17550c.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr19162.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/pr21884.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-gc/pr19167.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-gc/pr20022.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-gc/start.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-elf/orphan-11.d: Delete notarget. * testsuite/ld-elf/orphan-12.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-gc/stop.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/empty-address-3a.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-scripts/empty-address-3b.d: Likewise. * testsuite/ld-ifunc/pr17154-x86-64-now.d: Delete duplicate notarget. * testsuite/ld-scripts/section-match-1.d: Comment fix. |

Define various symbols conditionally in shared libraries
The values of symbols in shared libraries like _end, _edata, and __bss_start are generally not that useful outside of the shared library. This patch defines them conditionally with PROVIDE, since a shared library might need the local value. An example is glibc ld.so local access to "_begin", "_etext" and "_end". (ld.so gains access to the local values by making the references using hidden visibility. That makes the definitions hidden too.) Fix Sparc, s390 and AArch64 targets so that they can handle relocs against ifunc symbols found in note sections.
Following on from PR 22929, I have found the same problem exists with other ifunc supporting targets too. Plus see this link for the bug being reported against the s390x binutils for Fedora rawhide: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1553705 So I am going to check in the patch below which applies the same change that H.J. made for the x86_64 target to the other affected targets. (Specifically: S390, AArch64 and Sparc). Plus it adds a new test to the linker testsuite to make sure that this problem stays fixed. bfd * elf64-s390.c (elf_s390_relocate_section): Move check for relocations against non-allocated sections to before the code that handles ifunc relocations. * elf32-s390.c (elf_s390_relocate_section): Likewise. * elfnn-aarch64.c (elfNN_aarch64_final_link_relocate): Treat relocs against IFUNC symbols in non-allocated sections as relocs against FUNC symbols. * elfxx-sparc.c (_bfd_sparc_elf_relocate_section): Likewise. ld * testsuite/ld-ifunc/ifuncmod5.s: New test. Checks that targets that support IFUNC symbols can handle relocations against those symbols in NOTE sections. * testsuite/ld-ifunc/ifuncmod5.d: New file: Driver for the new test. * testsuite/ld-ifunc/ifunc.exp: Run the new test. |

readelf ngettext fixes
This patch is a first pass at fixing readelf message pluralization. I've deliberately not fixed the "out of memory" errors since it's very unlikely that they will ever be complaining about not being able to allocate for a single entry, and a few others where the size is very unlikely to be 1 byte. Then there are messages like this one: "Out of %lu items there are %zu bucket clashes (longest of %zu entries).\n" I suppose this could be split into three parts, "Of %lu items ", "there are %zu bucket clashes ", and "(longest of %zu entries).\n", each part being printed separately, but that might not be ideal for sentence construction in other languages. For now I'm punting on this one. Changes to readelf output require lots of testsuite adjustment.. binutils/ * dwarf.c (read_uleb128): Properly pluralize messages. When ld is running with something other than --hash-style=sysv by default, numerous tests need tweaking. Most of the changes just add --hash-style=sysv. x86-64: Improve PLT generation and synthetic PLT symbols
On x86-64, the procedure linkage table (PLT) is used to 1. Call external function. 2. Call internal IFUNC function. The best implementation is selected for the target processor at run-time. 3. Act as the canonical function address. 4. Support LD_AUDIT to audit external function calls. 5. Support LD_PROFILE to profile external function calls. PLT looks like: PLT0: push GOT[1] jmp *GOT[2] nop PLT1: jmp *GOT[name1_index] push name1_reloc_index jmp PLT0 GOT is an array of addresses. Initially the GOT entry of name1 is filled with the address of the "push name1_reloc_index" instruction. The function, name1, is called via "jmp *GOT[name1]" in the PLT entry. Even when lazy binding is disabled by "-z now", the PLT0 entry may still be used with LD_AUDIT or LD_PROFILE if PLT entry is used for canonical function address. When linker is invoked with "-z bndplt", a different PLT layout in .plt is used: PLT0: push GOT[1] bnd jmp *GOT[2] nop PLT1: push name1_reloc_index bnd jmp PLT0 nop together with a second PLT section, .pl.bnd: PLT1: bnd jmp *GOT[name1_index] nop where the GOT entry of name1 is filled with the address of the push instruction of the corresponding entry in .plt. 1. With lazy binding, when the external function, name1, is called the first time, dynamic linker is called via PLT0 to update GOT[name1_index] with the actual address of name1 and transfers control to name1 afterwards. 2. PLT is also used to call a local IFUNC function, name1, run-time loader updates GOT[name1_index] when loading the module. This patch 1. Remove PLT layout configurations from x86-64 backend_data. 2. Add generic, lay and non-lazy PLT layout configurations to x86-64 link_hash_table. Generic PLT layout includes the PLT entry templates, information how to update the first instruction in PLT and PLT eh_frame informaton, which are initialized in x86-64 setup_gnu_properties, based on "-z bndplt" and target selection. PLT section alignment is also set to PLT entry size for non-NaCl target. 3. Remove elf_x86_64_create_dynamic_sections. create_dynamic_sections isn't always called, but GOT relocations need GOT relocations. Instead, create all x86-64 specific dynamic sections with alignment to their entry size in x86-64 setup_gnu_properties, which initializes elf.dynobj, so that x86-64 check_relocs can be simplified. 4. Rewrite elf_x86_64_get_synthetic_symtab to check PLT sections against all dynamic relocations to support both lazy and non-lazy PLTs. There is no change in PLT. The only externally visible change is the improvement of synthetic PLT symbols for .plt.got. bfd/ * elf64-x86-64.c (PLT_ENTRY_SIZE): Renamed to ... (LAZY_PLT_ENTRY_SIZE): This.
