370426d0da Always free matching vector from bfd_check_format_matches
At least one place calling list_matching_formats failed to free the
"matching" vector from bfd_check_format_matches afterwards. Fix that
by calling free inside list_matching_formats.

0e3c1eebb2 Remove use of bfd_uint64_t and similar
Requiring C99 means that uses of bfd_uint64_t can be replaced with
uint64_t, and similarly for bfd_int64_t, BFD_HOST_U_64_BIT, and
BFD_HOST_64_BIT. This patch does that, removes #ifdef BFD_HOST_*
and tidies a few places that print 64-bit values.

a2c5833233 Update year range in copyright notice of binutils files
The result of running etc/update-copyright.py --this-year, fixing all
the files whose mode is changed by the script, plus a build with
--enable-maintainer-mode --enable-cgen-maint=yes, then checking
out */po/*.pot which we don't update frequently.

The copy of cgen was with commit d1dd5fcc38ead reverted as that commit
breaks building of bfp opcodes files.

fd3619828e bfd_section_* macros
This large patch removes the unnecessary bfd parameter from various
bfd section macros and functions. The bfd is hardly ever used and if
needed for the bfd_set_section_* or bfd_rename_section functions can
be found via section->owner except for the com, und, abs, and ind
std_section special sections. Those sections shouldn't be modified
anyway.

The patch also removes various bfd_get_section_<field> macros,
replacing their use with bfd_section_<field>, and adds
bfd_set_section_lma. I've also fixed a minor bug in gas where
compressed section renaming was done directly rather than calling
bfd_rename_section. This would have broken bfd_get_section_by_name
and similar functions, but that hardly mattered at such a late stage
in gas processing.

af03af8f55 Synchronize libiberty with gcc and add --no-recruse-limit option to tools that support name demangling.
This patch addresses the multitude of bug reports about resource exhaustion
in libiberty's name demangling code. It adds a limit to the amount of
recursion that is allowed, before an error is triggered. It also adds a
new demangling option to disable this limit. (The limit is enabled by

bf2dd8d7cf BFD_INIT_MAGIC
This patch performs a run-time test that a shared libbfd.so has been
compiled with the same size bfd_vma as that of apps using the library.
On a 32-bit host it is easily possible to have one libbfd.so compiled
to support 64-bit targets (or configured with --enable-64-bit-bfd)
while another only supports 32-bit targets. The two libraries will
have differently sized bfd_vma types, and if the wrong one is loaded
all sorts of weird behaviour might be seen.

160b1a618a PR22443, Global buffer overflow in _bfd_elf_get_symbol_version_string
Symbols like *ABS* defined in bfd/section.c:global_syms are not
elf_symbol_type. They can appear on relocs and perhaps other places
in an ELF bfd, so a number of places in nm.c and objdump.c are wrong
to cast an asymbol based on the bfd being ELF. I think we lose

cec4b2e3fe Fix calculation of synthetic symbol sizes (ppc64)
The attached patch fixes a problem where nm displays bogus information for
synthetic symbol sizes when --size-sort is used.

This happens because the synthetic symbols (dot symbols for ppc64) are
generated based on their non-dot symbols. The generation process doesn't copy
over the ELF-specific bits of the regular non-dot symbols.

When --size-sort is used, the code attempts to access the symbol size from
the ELF-specific bits and ends up reading gargabe, causing the size to be
displayed incorrectly.

With the patch, i can see dot and non-dot symbols having the same size with
--size-sort.

This doesn't fix the fact that we don't display size information for synthetic
symbols without --size-sort, which i may address in the future.
