1f56df9d0d [AArch64] Also puts value in place for R_AARCH64_RELATIVE
When handling absolute relocations for global symbols bind within the
shared object, AArch64 will generate one dynamic RELATIVE relocation,
but won't apply the value for this absolution relocations at static
linking stage. This is different from AArch64 gold linker and x86-64.

This is not a bug as AArch64 is RELA, there is only guarantee that
relocation addend is placed in the relocation entry. But some
system softwares originally writen for x86-64 might assume AArch64
bfd linker gets the same behavior as x86-64, then they could take
advantage of this buy skipping those RELATIVE dynamic relocations
if the load address is the same as the static linking address.

This patch makes AArch64 BFD linker applies absolution relocations at
static linking stage for scenario described above. Meanwhile old AArch64
android loader has a bug (PR19163) which relies on current linker behavior
as a workaround, so the same option --no-apply-dynamic-relocs added.

b8871f357f Properly implement STT_COMMON
The BFD configure option, --enable-elf-stt-common, can't be to used to
verify STT_COMMON implementation with the normal binutils build. Instead,
this patch removes it from BFD. It adds --elf-stt-common=[no|yes] to ELF
assembler/objcopy and adds -z common/-z nocommon to ld.

A configure option, --enable-elf-stt-common, is added to gas to specify
whether ELF assembler should generate common symbols with the STT_COMMON
type by default.

Since BSF_KEEP_G is never used, it is renamed to BSF_ELF_COMMON for ELF
common symbols.

936384714f Re: Orphan output section with multiple input sections
The last patch missed handling the case where the ideal place to put

caa65211bb Add "-z call-nop=PADDING" option to ld
The ld linker can transform indirect call to a locally defined function,
foo, via its GOT slot, to either "NOP call foo" or "call foo NOP" where
NOP is a 1-byte NOP padding. This patch adds a "-z call-nop=PADDING"

3074964fcf Relative DT_RPATH/DT_RUNPATH vs. sysroot capable ld.
This fixes two problems. First, the --sysroot option wasn't available
with a ld configured without --with-sysroot, a historical accident.
This led to people configuring binutils with --with-sysroot=/ in order
to enable sysroot support, which exposes a case where ld wrongly
prepends the sysroot to a relative path.

0e1862bb40 Add output_type to bfd_link_info
The "shared" field in bfd_link_info is set for both DSO and and PIE.
There are separate fields for executable and relocatable outputs. This
patch adds an "output_type" field:

enum output_type
{
  type_unknown = 0,
  type_executable,
  type_dll,
  type_relocatable
};

and a "pic" field to bfd_link_info to replace shared, executable and
relocatable fields so that we can use the "output_type" field to check
for output type and the "pic" field check if output is PIC. Macros,
bfd_link_executable, bfd_link_dll, bfd_link_relocatable, bfd_link_pic
and bfd_link_pie, are provided to check for output features.

19a7fe52ae Make default compression gABI compliant
All programs in binutils+gdb git repo now support gABI compression
with the SHF_COMPRESSED bit. This patch makes the zlib-gabi option
as compression default for gas, gold, ld and objcopy, instead of the
zlib-gnu option whose outputs are incompatible with gABI.

Taking them out showed a bug in the powerpc64 backend with .branch_lt
being removed from output_bfd but not from previously set up segment
section maps. Removing the bfd sections meant their sh_flags (and

triggering complaints about "`.branch_lt' can't be allocated in
segment".

0ce398f106 Add --compress-debug-sections=[none|zlib|zlib-gnu|zlib-gabi]
This patch adds --compress-debug-sections=[none|zlib|zlib-gnu|zlib-gabi]

been finalized and they can't be changed easily when compression is
being performed.

4106101c44 [AArch64] Workaround for Cortex A53 erratum 843419
Some early revisions of the Cortex-A53 have an erratum (843419). The
details of the erratum are quite complex and involve dynamic
conditions. For the purposes of the workaround we have simplified the
static conditions to an ADRP in the last two instructions of a 4KByte
page, followed within four instructions by a load/store dependent on
the ADRP.

This patch adds support to conservatively scan for and workaround
Cortex A53 erratum 843419. There are two different workaround
strategies used. The first is to rewrite ADRP instructions which form
part of an erratum sequence with an ADR instruction. In situations
where the ADR provides insufficient offset the dependent load or store
instruction from the sequence is moved to a stub section and branches
are inserted from the original sequence to the relocated instruction
and back again.

Stub section sizes are rounded up to a multiple of 4096 in order to
ensure that the act of inserting work around stubs does not create
more errata sequences.

Workaround stubs are always inserted into the stub section associated
with the input section containing the erratum sequence. This ensures
that the fully relocated form of the veneered load store instruction
is available at the point in time when the stub section is written.

4a0bc59ef6 Yet another warning fix
Older compilers that warn wrongly will just need -Wno-error. No way
am I going to init every single field, then have to edit this code
whenever bfd_link_hash_entry changes. Another option, making the
struct static, isn't very nice since it means larger binaries and
worse code.

4e791d0fb1 Fixes for a small number of compiler warnings
The ehdr_start_save variable does not need to be initialized. However,
not initializing it will trigger a compiler warning when using older
versions of GCC. Self-assignment unfortunately doesn't work for Clang
as Clang has a warning similar to -Winit-self as part of -Wall.

	* emultempl/elf32.em (gld*_before_allocation): Zero-initialize
	the ehdr_start_save variable.

dbd1e97e32 PowerPC64 changes for xlc
The changes to reorder sections for better relro protection on powerpc64,
3e2b0f31, 23283c1b, and 5ad18f16, run into a problem with xlc.
xlc -qdatalocal puts global variables into .toc, which means that .toc
